Automating firmware and mobile releases

Replaced manual firmware releases with Jenkins automation and, in a separate workflow, reduced mobile release time by approximately 50% through parallel Android and iOS lanes. Anonymised past employment.

Problem

Firmware releases relied on a manual process. A separate mobile delivery workflow also offered an opportunity to reduce release time.

My contribution

For firmware, I built Jenkins CI/CD pipelines to automate builds, signing, and over-the-air deployment.

For mobile delivery, I parallelised the Android and iOS release lanes.

Outcomes

  • Firmware: automated builds, signing, and over-the-air deployment replaced the manual release process.
  • Mobile: parallel Android and iOS lanes reduced release wall-clock time by approximately 50%.

These are outcomes from two distinct workflows. The 50% reduction describes mobile release time.

The work was completed as an employed engineer. Company names and identifying details are omitted.
